Prospective Cheerleaders and Parents:

Thank you for your interest in the Leesville Road High School Cheerleading program!

On August 2, 2010 we will begin the process of selecting team members for the 2011-2012 football, basketball, and competition seasons. All squad members will be chosen by the Leesville Road High School Cheerleading Coaching staff. The selection process will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room of Leesville Road High School and will occur as follows:

Monday, August 2 - 8:00 am - 10:00am AND 6:30pm – 8:00pm (black shorts / white shirts)

Tuesday, August 3 – 8:00am – 10:00am AND 5:30pm – 7:00pm (navy shorts / green shirts)

Wednesday, August 4 – 8:00am – 10:00am (gray shorts / navy shirts)

In order to participate in the squad selection process and the following seasons if chosen, each prospective cheerleader MUST have Athletic Participation and Medical Waiver forms on file with the school PRIOR to July 16, 2010. This includes a current physical. Forms should be dropped off at the main office, TO THE ATTENTION OF SHELLY REATHAFORD. Please understand that you will NOT be able to participate in squad selection process without having first been cleared. There are NO exceptions to this rule. In addition to the necessary forms, each prospective cheerleader must be within eligible academic standing in order to be a member of the 2010-2011 LRHS Cheerleading program. Eligibility guidelines include maintaining at minimum 1.5 GPA, having less than 13.5 total absences for the prior semester, be passing ¾ of all classes, and be on the correct track for graduation. Every promoted freshman is automatically eligible for athletics in accordance to Wake County guidelines.

Regarding the selection process, freshmen, sophomores and juniors are eligible for Junior Varsity positions and freshmen through seniors are eligible for Varsity positions. Squads will consist of those athletes meeting the requirements in the highest capacity in regard to each individual position. In addition to skill, we are seeking student athletes who will best represent Leesville Road High School. Please note that it is up to the individual discretion of the coaches as to the number of positions that will be filled on each squad. In addition, spaces may be filled at the Varsity level as the season progresses, by pulling athletes from the JV team.
