Leesville Scholarship Bulletin
The Leesville Scholarship Bulletin is published each month and provides students and parents with information about many local, statewide and national scholarships. The content of the bulletin is based on information that has been sent directly to Leesville. Seniors will receive a hard copy of the bulletin through their second period teacher. The bulletin is also posted on Leesville's web site. Parents of seniors who would like to have the bulletin emailed to them can submit their email address to Mr. Greene in the Student Services Office at egreene@wcpss.net. The Leesville Bulletin is not a comprehensive list of the many scholarships that are available to seniors. In regards to scholarships at specific colleges and universities, unless a selection/nomination process is required by a particular college or university for a specific scholarship, where Leesville can only nominate a certain number of students, general school specific scholarships for colleges and universities will not be published in the scholarship bulletin. Therefore students are urged to contact the schools they are applying to for admission to attain additional information regarding scholarships specific to their school. There are also numerous scholarship web sites that can be accessed to search for scholarships and a list of these is provided in the “Planning Guide for Seniors” that is distributed to seniors during their senior orientation meeting with their counselor. This orientation occurs during the first two weeks of the school year. This list of websites will also be published on each monthly bulletin. Students and parents should keep in mind that Leesville only has information on scholarships that are listed on the Leesville scholarship bulletin.
Scholarships that Require a School Nomination
Throughout the course of the school year, there will be several scholarships that will require the school to choose only a certain number of nominees for the scholarship. If a student is interested in one of these scholarships they will be given specific instructions on how to apply for the scholarship. Students need to be very careful to follow all instructions and deadlines for these scholarships. In addition, these scholarships often require the submission of a student's resume. The resume must be in the format of the sample resume provided in the “Planning Guide for Seniors”. |
