2007-2008 PTSA Meeting Dates

Following are the PTSA meeting dates for the year, as well as the topic of each.   Each is at 7:00 p.m.
on a Monday in the Media Center at LRHS.    

Sept. 17 - "Meet Dr. Gainey," as well as Budget approval and plans
for the year.

Oct. 15 - "Graduation Project" - this new State requirement applies
to students entering High School for the first time this year or last
year.  (most all Freshmen and Sophomores).

Nov. 5 - "Presidential Volunteer Service Awards" (for those applying
by Sept. 1)

Jan. 14 - "Organizing for 2nd Semester" (focus on Committee & volunteer work)

Feb. 11 - "Registration for Classes - What students & families should
do to prepare"

May 12 - Vote on Officers for next year & Summer Spending


Lunch Bunch

Our Principal, Dr. Gainey, hosts parent groups during the year, to pass on information to help their students, and to get questions and feedback from parents.  These have been popular and are informal ways to discuss school-wide issues.   Parents are invited to bring their lunch if they like, and join others to meet with Dr. Gainey, as well as a representative from the Guidance Department.  The PTSA hosts these, and provides complimentary soft drinks and desserts.   Parents are welcome to attend any/all of the sessions.   The information presented will focus on the grade levels as listed below.  All sessions are from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the Career Center near the Front Office. Hope to see you there!

College Night

Thurs, Jan. 3, 7:00 p.m.   This night is designed for High School Seniors and their families to hear from current College Freshmen about their recent college experiences.  More info will follow closer to the time, but Senior parents might want to put this on the schedule now.  We have a panel of College Freshmen who attended LRHS last year, and they share tips on topics like:  How to deal with a roommate, which food plans are best, how much spending money do you need, how hard are classes and how much do you have to study, what should you bring for your dorm room.
