Dear Leesville Road High School Parents:
Many important events will take place at Leesville Road High School between now and the end of the 2005-2006 school year. Thus, I encourage all families to note the following events and their corresponding dates when making plans for the months of May and June.
Spring musical---May 11-13 (LRHS auditorium; 7:00 p.m.)
Awards Day Assembly---May 17 (LRHS auditorium; 9:05 a.m.)
Dance concert---May 18 (LRHS auditorium; 7:00 p.m.)
Chorus concert---May 23 (LRHS auditorium; 7:30 p.m.)
9 th Grade Band & Concert Band concert---May 24 (LRHS auditorium; 7:30 p.m.)
Symphonic Band concert---May 25 (LRHS auditorium; 7:30 p.m.)
Senior Assembly---May 26 (LRHS main gym; 8:55 a.m.)
Senior Picnic---May 26 (LRHS stadium; 10:30 a.m.)
Graduation---June 10 (Reynolds Coliseum on the NCSU campus; 11:00 a.m.)
In addition to these events and a variety of athletic events involving the Spring sports teams, we still have a lot of instructional time remaining in the school year. Thus, I ask that you continue to encourage your child to stay focused on his/her studies, especially with final exams being just around the corner. The schedule for final exams is included in this newsletter. Please review this schedule so you can help your child with his/her preparations for these important evaluations. Also, I want to point out that the administration of senior exams will be on a schedule different from the one for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. This change is needed to accommodate preparations associated with graduation.
Finally, I want to share our plan to offer a computer-based summer school upon the conclusion of the 2005-2006 academic campaign with a $360 fee per student. This program will be reserved for current seniors and possibly rising seniors. However, current seniors will be given priority in terms of registration for the limited number of seats. Furthermore, students will not be permitted to take courses for “original credit” through this program. More information will be forthcoming from the Guidance Department pertaining to this program. Peggy Credle, one of our assistant principals, will serve as its director.
I want to thank you for your continued support of Leesville Road High School. Your efforts are very valuable in our attempt to continually improve as a school. Please do not forget how much our staff appreciates the great amount of parental support given to our school each year. Our next communication with members of the Leesville Road High School community is scheduled for the middle of July. At that time, forms and other information needed for a successful start to the 2006-2007 school year will be sent to you through the mail.
Respectfully,
Stephen Gainey
